Congratulations to the new members, most of whom ran this race along with other "Senior" Big Dawg Members...13 in all. Maybe a new record for the most Big Dawgs at a single race. Think it's just a matter of time before all the running "Greats" become Big Dawg Members. We already have 43 of them.

Chairman
Lou Lodovico, 87, Ellwood City. Not enough room here to write about this man's accomlishments in running. And he's still out there doing training runs with us and competing in races.
Honorary Runner
Jim Roser, long-time friend of Lou Lodovico and other Big Dawgs. Jim attended our 1st Annual Big Dawgs Picnic, July 30, 2011.
President
Lou Alaksin, 71, New Galilee. He's run 35 Marathons...16 in Pittsburgh.
Purchasing & Recruitment Director
John Antinossi, 66, Ellwood City, begin running 1985. Retired 2007. First Race & First marathon Pittsburgh1989 4hrs 16 min.
Race Adviser, Statistics, Trainer & Injury Diagnosis Specialist
Harry Green, 65, Aliquippa. Started running in 2002, mainly for health reasons...cholesterol, diabetes, high bp, over-weight. By 2007 I was down to 160 lbs & no longer needed any meds. In May, 2007 I was diagnosed with Leukemia, but even this is under control. The last 2 years I've run in over 50 races each year, & placed 85 times. Miles run since starting is nearly 7,000. PR's...5K-18:35, 10K-41:15 & Half Marathon-1:39:19.
Web Site Coordinator
Dave White, 70, Georgetown. Running since Aug. 2006. Going out to run for me is like going to the dentist office to get my teeth cleaned...I know it's healthy and a good thing to do, I know it's going to be uncomfortable and even hurt at times, but when it's over, it feels really good.
Runner
Bob Walker, Pittsburgh. He's hit the Marathon trail 78 times and expects to do two more this year.
Runner
Gale Mussey, Ellwood City. Started to run @ age 49 to stop the aging process! Lost 20 some lbs (I was close to 200 lbs) The bug bit me and I started to run competitively that fall...Pizza Joe 5K and the Gallop 10K. Approaching 60 and still love to run. Try to run 4 days a week and compete on the weekend. PR 5K-21:37, PR-10K 45:48. Hope to do a Half this summer/fall.
Runner
Eugene McClain, Monaca. Running since 1997. Finished 14 marathons along with several hundred races. Two races I'll never forget, Harrisburgh marathon in the rain and running the Ultimate Road Test Race in Cadiz, Ohio with Lou Alaksin.
Runner
Boone Weatherly, Aliquippa. I saw a picture of myself in 2002 and I looked like the Stay Puffed Marshmallow Man...215 lbs. I started walking at Brady's Run. Walked a little, jogged a little. My first 5K was Economy Park...way nervous, first 10K at the Great Race and the Half at IKEA. I do my best running when I drive somewhere, get out, and start running. No planned miles or time. Just go til I feel like turning around. My wife hates when I do that, she doesn't know when I'll be home.
Runner
Emmett Santillo (EJ), Beaver Falls. I started running back in June of 1994 to lose some weight and to get ready for the Ellwood City 10K. In three weeks ran a 55 minute 10K. Continued to run after the race and have been running ever since. This year I ran Ellwood for the 17th consecutive time. Ran 20 plus marathons with my P.R. of: 2:55:55 in 2008. Ran many races over the years but, I have to say the half is my favorite distance. I have met many friends over the years thru running. We have enjoyed hours of training and the love of the sport. Hope to continue to run and long as our leader Lou!
Manager, Directional Resources
Lenny Yensull, Ellwood City. My first race was the Ellwood City Ledger 10K in 1996. All I wanted to do was not come in last - It worked, there were four people behind me. Since then I worked my way to the middle of any race, (sometimes much better). My best PR 5K 23:37
I hope to run as fast as the other Big Dawgs some day! They inspire me.
I hope to run as fast as the other Big Dawgs some day! They inspire me.
Runner
Emmett Santillo (ET), Beaver Falls.
Runner
Mike Johnson, Beaver Falls.
Runner
Sherree May, Ellwood City. Big Dawgs first lady member. I started running at age 24 after looking out of my apartment window in Pittsburgh and witnessing a "sea of people" running. It was the Richard S. Caliguiri Great Race of Pittsburgh. I vowed to be among them the following year and was. My running has been fairly consistent over the years but now I find myself in the "empty nest" phase of life with renewed enthusiasm, determination, and energy. So, you can surely bet I'll be out there pounding the pavement and logging the miles. After all......I am a Big Dawg now!!!
